Great Barr Community Hub is owned by 20th Walsall Scout group (St Margaret's Great Barr). Our group has been scouting at St Margaret's, Great Barr for nearly 80 years. For many years our meeting place was at St Margaret's CofE School, based on the Birmingham Road.
The Hub was built with funds raised by our Scout group over a 20 year period and with help from a Big Lottery Fund grant in 2009. The building is run entirely by volunteers and has a volunteer management committee, which maintains a friendly, open and professional approach in all its dealings. It is a non-for-profit community building run by volunteers of our Scout group.
The committee members actively engage with many organisation's and are always looking for new avenues to explore and services to develop, to ensure The Hub reflects our local community and to respond to its needs with creativity and enthusiasm.
The aims of the Hub are to provide a well-maintained, accessible community resource for other voluntary sector and community groups and to support the economic activities of individuals with a range of services.
The Hub has been open since September 2010. It hosts over 10 different activities, organisation and classes each week, including Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, Rainbows, and Brownies. A monthly messy play session, National Child Birth Trust classes, training for local companies and a wide range of Lifestyle, fitness and martial arts classes.
